RPA Leadership Development Program for Early Career Nephrologists

2025 Leadership Development Program 

 

 


About the program: 
The Renal Physicians Association (RPA) Leadership Development Program for Early Career Nephrologists (formerly Public Policy Fellowship for Early Career Nephrologists) is a one-year opportunity for nephrologists in practice 5 years or less. Program participants will develop a greater understanding of policy issues related to kidney care as well as the workings of the RPA. They will attend RPA Board of Directors meetings, be assigned a mentor from the Board of Directors, and engage with at least one RPA committee. In addition, they will have the opportunity to write for the RPA News or another publishing opportunity. 


Applicant Expectations:


Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have completed their renal fellowship and be in practice in the United States for 5 years or less.
  • Applicants must be active members of RPA or must join RPA as early career members in order to claim the fellowship.


Required attendance at:

  • RPA Billing and Coding one-day workshop (April 3, 2025 in Las Vegas, NV)
  • RPA Annual Meeting (April 3-6, 2025 in Las Vegas, NV)
  • RPA Capitol Hill Day (TBD)

Participate on at least one policy committee:*

     Clinical Practice, Health Care Payment, Government Affairs, or Quality Safety and Accountability.

* Participation is defined as attendance at least 75% of the committee's meetings.


Participate in RPA Board meetings as a non-voting member
:

  • April 3, 2025 (during RPA Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV)
  • June 27-29, 2025 (Chicago, IL)
  • Fall 2025 (TBD)  


Maintain RPA membership as early career members during fellowship and for at least one year after the completion of fellowship.



RPA Commitment:

  • Cover travel expenses associated for all required in-person meetings.
  • Assign a Board leader to serve as mentor for each nephrology fellow.
  • Provide publication opportunity.

 

Applications must be submitted by December 2, 2024.
