Techniques and tools for today’s managers and leaders
RPA and Duke University have teamed up to offer a new approach to business education for the modern nephrology practice. Using a multi-modal learning system with an esteemed faculty from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, this course has been designed for nephrologists and other members of the renal health care team who wish to expand their knowledge of business management, leadership and negotiations.
The course combines distance learning methods with traditional classroom delivery:
- Webcasts (Download and replay as often as you like)
- Global Interactive Classrooms (Interactive sessions with fellow participants led by faculty)
- Self-study Learning Projects (Done at your convenience, home or work)
- Face-to-face at CME Certified Classroom Session in Baltimore, MD on the 2 days immediately prior to the RPA Annual Meeting
The material covered in The Business of Nephrology Practice includes strategic planning, decision support tools, financial statements, operations management, creating a customer focused practice, how to assess organizational challenges, leading strategic change, and negotiation techniques.
Course Objectives:
- Apply proven business methods to nephrology practice management
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge of accounting and performance metrics derived from practice financial statements
- Assess support tools
- Use basic strategic planning
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of communication and marketing frameworks
- Apply process flow analysis to identify bottlenecks
- Identify a medical practice’s current stage of organizational growth and leadership requirements for the practice
- Describe the difference between leaders and managers and determine the role requirements for various positions
- Demonstrate the complex dynamics and leadership requirements for multi-party negotiations
- Analyze your interests and alternatives prior to negotiating
- Apply knowledge for the practice to continue into its next stage of development
