CHAIR: Richard Goldman, MD

Develop policies related to clinical practice guidelines and clinical performance measures.
Develop practice guidelines in areas where the RPA identifies specific needs or opportunities and has appropriate expertise.
Increase acceptance and appropriate use of guidelines and performance measures by practicing nephrologists, regulatory agencies and providers.
Develop implementation strategies for guidelines and physician performance measures.
Oversee the implementation of RPA’s clinical practice guidelines on Appropriate Patient Preparation for Renal Replacement Therapy and Shared Decision making in the Initiation and Withdrawal from Dialysis.
Maintain liaison with CMS’ Office of Clinical Standards and Quality.
Maintain liaison with CMS Core Indicators Work Group.
Develop policy related to ethics and quality end of life issues.
Oversee ESRD Patient Safety Initiative.
Maintain liaison with and develop relevant programs for the National Kidney Disease Education Program.
Develop programs, measures, and tools to promote physician accountability in all practice settings.
Increase physician awareness and use of CQI.
Collaborate with the Clinical Practice Committee on goals related to the role of the dialysis facility medical director and dialysis facility conditions for coverage.
