Increase awareness and develop tools to assist members with negotiating managed care and indemnity insurance contracts.
Increase awareness of RPA members regarding mechanisms for managed care/indemnity insurance contracting.
Promote reasonable compensation for nephrologists.
Monitor and make recommendations in the area of physician payment.
Review and recommend changes needed in CPT coding and the Medicare fee schedule.
Maintain liaison with the AMA RUC and CPT advisory panels.
Respond to RPA members’ concerns/problems related to physician payment.
Involve a practice manager committee member to address billing and coding problems experienced by practice managers.
Develop a network of nephrology representatives on carrier advisory committees and implement and maintain mechanisms for frequent communication among this group.
Develop a comprehensive program to assist RPA members at the regional/local level.
